About AccuTerra™
What is AccuTerra™?
AccuTerra™ is a set of recreation and rural-centric web mapping services designed to pick up where other major map provider leave off; the great outdoors. Focusing on what matters most to outdoor users; land ownership and travel information, AccuTerra™ boats over a quarter million miles of trails and one of the most comprehensive public land boundary maps available. In addition, AccuTerra™ includes over one million recreation specific points of interest such as campgrounds, trailheads, fresh water sources, and picnic areas to name a few. This unique content is presented in a subtle topographic map style that makes it easy to assess the lay of the land without being a map expert.
What are AccuTerra™ Layers?
AccuTerra™ is available in five separate map layers: AccuTerra™ Land Use, AccuTerra™ Land Cover, AccuTerra™ Slope, AccuTerra™ Labels, and AccuTerra™ Points of Interest.
What countries does AccuTerra™ cover?
AccuTerra™ is available world-wide down to 1:1million scale. High resolution maps are available for the continental United States as well as Hawaii and Alaska, with limited coverage in Canada.

About AccuTerra™ Map Content
What makes AccuTerra™ so unique?
AccuTerra™ was built for outdoor enthusiasts by outdoor enthusiasts. As a result, they have more than a quarter million miles of trails, detailed land use boundaries, topographic contour lines, forest roads, places of interest specific to the outdoors and other outdoor-specific content. All the information you need for your outdoor recreation is now available in one nation-wide trail map.
Where does AccuTerra™ data come from?
AccuTerra™ combines data from National Forest, National Park, BLM, and State Park maps with local recreation areas, user community data, and many other sources to provide consistent map coverage of all your favorite recreation areas.
How many trails does AccuTerra™ have?
Lots! With over 250,000 miles of multi-use, hike, bike, snow, waterway and equestrian trails chances are we’ve got you covered.
Does AccuTerra™ just show non-motorized trails?
Not at all! We also have over 250,000 miles of ATV trails and 4x4 roads.
How many different land use classifications does AccuTerra™ show?
AccuTerra™ depicts nearly 400 different specific land use sub-classifications within 7 primary classifications.

Licensing
What types of licensing do you provide?
- AccuTerra™ is licensed based on usage.
- All tiers of AccuTerra™ Licenses include use of all AccuTerra™ Layers including AccuTerra™ Land Use, AccuTerra™ Land Cover, AccuTerra™ Slope, AccuTerra™ Labels, and AccuTerra™ Points of Interest.
- Billing for AccuTerra™ is based on map usage per month.
What does it cost to license AccuTerra™?
The Cost to license AccuTerra™ for your mobile app or website varies based on total monthly map views. The more map views you consume the lower the cost per map view.

What if I consume more map views than my Subscription Tier allows?
It’s a good thing! It means your users like what they see and want more. If you go over the map view limit on your current subscription you pay a very small amount for each additional map view, ranging from $0.001 to $0.00002 per map view depending on your subscription level.
What if I am on the Free Tier?
The same goes for the Free Tier. If you are currently using AccuTerra™ free of charge but begin seeing increased traffic which moves you over the Free Tier limit you will pay a very small amount for each additional view.
My maps usage for the month is already above my Tier limit, can I upgrade to the next tier before being billed?
Yes, if you notice that your usage for a given billing cycle is greater than the Tier limit and do not wish to pay the overage usage you may upgrade to the next Tier any time before the end of that billing cycle to avoid paying the overages.
How do I monitor my maps usage?
Your AccuTerra™ Account comes with access to our map usage reporting tools so you can see exactly what your maps usage is for that month as well as previous months.
How do I know which Tier is correct for me? When you sign up with NeoTreks your first month is always free, regardless of maps usage. This gives you a chance to analyze your maps usage before selecting the tier that fits your needs.
What is a map view?
A map view equates to a single map tile loaded from our server. In a single pan or zoom event several map views are consumed. More map views are consumed when using larger screens or monitors, and conversely, mobile devices with smaller screens will consume less map views.
How do I acquire a license to us AccuTerra™ on my website or mobile application?
Please contact us or email austin@neotreks.com and we’ll get you up and running. This includes a free demo account to test map integration and gauge user feedback, as well as a Free Tier that guarantees that if you stay under the monthly map view limit that you will never be charged for using our maps.
Can I cache AccuTerra™ Maps for offline use in my mobile application?
Yes! We designed these maps for use in the great outdoors and most of the time that means no cell coverage. One of the many things that separates AccuTerra™ from other mapping providers is the freedom to take our maps offline via local device cache. Offline caching is available with any Licensing Tier level.
What are the usage restrictions on AccuTerra™?
- You may not derive geospatial data or attribution via digitizing, screen capture or any other methods from AccuTerra™.
- You may not host, copy or duplicate AccuTerra™ in any way, including staging of tiles on third party servers.
- Offline caching is only permitted on mobile hand-held devices.

What APIs are available and how do I integrate AccuTerra™ into my apps or website?
Many different web mapping APIs and development SDK’s are available to web and application developers. NeoTreks recommends the use of the ArcGIS API’s and SDK’s. For many who have already developed applications using Google, Apple, Open Layers, or other mapping environments instructions for adding AccuTerra™ can be found below.

Can I use AccuTerra™ with my favorite GIS software?
Yes, AccuTerra™ may be licensed for use in GIS software packages such as ArcMap, Global Mapper, Quantum GIS and others.

Tile Overlays
A tile overlay, sometimes called a tile layer, is a collection of images that are displayed on top of the base map tiles. More Info

Token Authentication
When ArcGIS web services are secured using ArcGIS token-based authentication, every request to a resource must be accompanied by a valid token. Tokens can be acquired using the tokens endpoint (using steps below) or through an HTTP POST request using the ArcGIS REST API. More Info
AccuTerra™ is secured using ArcGIS token-based authentication. When you request a free trial account you will be provided with the MapServer URL as well as our individual service URLs and a Username and Password for your AccuTerra™ account. You can then use these credentials to generate your Tokens using our Token Service.
